Imagining Sisyphus happy
For 33 days we were fully active on hiring for a Head of Paid media. Happily we found Nick, who joined Fella on June 30th. Along the way we met amazing people & more specifically, 7 candidates who turned finalists who really impressed us and could be a great fit for the right team. This document exists to share more of what we were looking for, how we evaluated candidates, and a short review for each finalist with their LinkedIn.

What we were evaluating
JD: Head of Paid Media at Fella & Delilah — Remote, $150k-$275k + 0.3%-1.0%
- $2M+/mo spend on both Meta and Google
- DTC ecom experience
- Fully hands-on: not agency-managed or lightly involved
- Strong testing mindset, especially around creative
- Strategic clarity and ownership
- Ability to operate independently and push aggressively
- Cultural alignment: urgency, honesty, bias to action
How we evaluated
- Pre-screening
- Checking over e-mail if candidates had personally managed $2M+/mo across both Meta and Google, with hands-on DTC experience
- Screening
- Quick 15-min calls with Dave (Head of Growth), going deeper into their background, strengths, platforms experience and overall vibes
- Technical assessment
- We asked candidates to walk us through how they’d build sample campaigns in both Meta and Google, covering structure, creative, targeting, and budget to see their approach and how hands-on they really are
- Getting to know the team
- 3×30-min interviews with César (media), André (creative), and Lorena (talent) to dive deeper into platform skills, creative collaboration, and working style

- 3×30-min interviews for external perspective on strengths, gaps, and team fit
